HATE TO SAY IT BUT I was taken by a Srt-4

Well I was North on the FL TPK going with trafic at 80ish(Had the Wife,FireFighter gear and some sleeping stuff for work in the trunk. NO the wife was not in the trunk:bored: )
I look in rearview and see some cars comming up fast. They were a small car, SUV and a Black on Black SRT-4 with a BIG Cooler. I blow it off....So I go and stay with them....Trafic started to become thick and I was behind a car. The Srt-4 slows and paces...I shift to 3rd and now doing 60ish...I let him Hit it first and he gets a car on me and starts to inch away then he cuts me off(due to trafic) and I had to hit the breakes HARD(That pissed me off and wife was UNfased and still on the phone)...:fm: 2nd time we pace and come down to 50ish 3rd again and I let him hit it first Again he PULLS like a bitch and I can't get him 4th come and I inch up but thats it :mj:
WTF :??: He slows and rolls down his window and I tell him he has to have put some $$$ to take me like that...He asked me what I had and I told him...We part with :thumbsup:

What does it take to take this car with the MODS down below:??:

Holly sh*t after reading your post I didn't realize that you had more then the basic bolt on's on you ride. He must of had a lot of work done to that neon. Definently time to upgrade the supercharger. It could be that preditor pulley tune that is hurting you, unless you had a custome tune done.:shrug:

I might be wrong, but what if you slammed it into 2nd at around 45-50ish and then ran him ? Is 50 too fast for 2nd gear or would that have given him the edge ?

Whats a "stage 3"? According to the guy in the SRT it was exhaust, intake, chip, bigger turbo, injectors.....blah blah blah.
Are you sure you didnt have the parking brake on?

Stage 3 isn't released as of yet. The Mopar "test car" that it's installed on ran 11.8's. Not saying you didn't run the "test" car, but if it wasn't white with the Mopar logo all over it, the guy was just pulling your leg.

Sounds like he probably had an upgraded turbo on it. It doesn't take much to make those things fast, you shouldn't underestimate them, especially if you see a big ol' intercooler on it.

The added weight didn't help you either. Try racing him from a dig next time, all alone, and yeah maybe try a lower gear if you're on a roll again. my 02

Sounds like you ran up against a tuff SRT-4.

BTW, 2nd gear is definitely the proper choice at 50 mph (assuming your tire height and gears are stock). I also suggest not giving the hit to a car you've already seen is going to give you a hard time. :nono:

2nd gear @ 45-50 is your friend. I'm sure you would have at least hung, if not beat him, had you started one gear lower.

well my friend has a stage 2 srt-4. We've never officially ran, but one time, i let him have the jump on me, and i couldnt reel him in at all in 2nd. When i shifted to 3rd, i started to inch my way up, but we quickly let off. We went from about 50-90, so it wasnt really a race. But those srt's are fast, if you give em the head jump, it will be hard to reel em in. If you wouldve been in 2nd, you would have probably caught him real quick.

That car took me by suprise...I didn't think much of it. I just can't stand being walked on by a 4 BANGER(lol)! I think my down fall is the Predator pulley tune. I dont have a Custom tune and I wont get one for a while. Wife wont let me spend any more $$ on the car since I spent 10k on a blown engine....

I just wish I could get a custom tune for FREE......

Don't sweat it, your not the first. These turbo swapped SRT-4 are few and far between.

Off topic: my buddy just took a 01 Viper buy a car length and he only has muflers on his 03 Cobra. Just as you, he never expected it. But, he nailed the 45-55 2nd gear.

The wife and I are test-driving one tomorrow, as we're in the market for a 4 door. It will be a hard sell (we both like Maximas, too), but I figure what the hell. Couldn't hurt to check one out.
