Right after I got my 03 Cobra in Oct. 02, I switched to Mobil 1 ATF. It was a big shift feel improvement over stock.

Then in 08 I had the trans out for a clutch and switched to Amsoil ATF and the feel got even better. It's still what I am using today. And I think I bought 4 quarts and just filled it until it came out through the upper hole. I had a little left over.

But you are going to get a lot of suggestions.

Another vote here for AMSOIL. I run it in the engine, trans and diff. Strong believer in their stuff. :rolling:

And yes you want ATF for our transmissions.

I just picked up 5 quarts of RP synchromax to replace what I believe is the stock fluid in the current trans... From what I have read you cant go wrong with RP or Amsoil as long as you stick to their good lines. I believe Jimmysidecarr's thread says its just over 4 quarts.

While I admit that I am a Amsoil fanboy, I have been running the RP Synchromax ATF for almost 10k, since I did my clutch and I have to say that my trans does shift much better than when I had the Amsoil ATF.

Now I have the Amsoil Torque-Drive® Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid at home, waiting to put it into my power steering system, but also see that its spec'd for the T56 on our cars. But I'm not sure at this point, its going into my T56 just yet because the Synchromax really agrees with my T56.

Great product. Very impressed with this ATF from RP. I would recommend it to others. Definitely superior to even the Castrol Dexron III Ford puts in.

Never heard anything bad about RP Synchromax, will be changing mine soon. Not to thread jack, but how often should you change?
