My 98 avalon is ready to kick the bucket at 210k miles and I'm looking for a cheaper but still fun replacement for driving to the bus and scooting around town. I'd like cars with 150k or less miles and something with no mechanical issues. I'm looking to spend $2k-$4k. The only color I would shy away from is red. But could consider if the price is right. Let me know what ya got!

go with a focus svt over a contour... 95 percent of contour svt are rusted and there a pain to work on.. i think a focus svt beats a csvt in every way possible

I wish you still had the svt for sale! I'm definitely leaning towards the focus. I'm vigorously searching craigslist and sale ads now lol

Good luck OP. I searched for months for a low mile SVTF w/ EAP. The car has been great, such a blast to drive. The only way I see myself selling it would be for a CO one.

Yea I hear ya. Craigslist has been good I'm looking at 3 between today and Sunday. Finding ones with good bodies is the tough part. I'm looking at a sb 4 door Saturday that is immaculate inside and out. As long as there are no surprises I think I'll be coming home with it.

I drove one last night, it was mechanically sound but body was in rough shape, faded paint, huge dent in rear, chipped up bumpers. But man, what a blast! Now I'm hooked. Why have a been driving a 98 Avalon all these years!? (Besides the fact it was free) My friends are starting to make fun of me that i'm all about the focus more than i ever was about the cobra! haha! I guess it's more exciting because it will be a DD....What part of NJ you from?

I think If I looked for the "perfect" focus, I'd still be looking. Faded bumpers are typical, mine is missing paint on the front bumper, and has a few small dings. I am hoping I can get most of the fixed with PDR, and eventually get both bumpers sprayed. I know its just a DD, but I'd like it to look sharp. All I really cared about was the low miles. After getting a ride in my friends Focus with the Recaros I was all about it. It feels just as fast(er) then my 95 GT, and handles like its on rails. I could never imagine taking some turns like I do in the thing. I am out in Hackettstown, so NW part of NJ.

I picked up this gem over the weekend.....04 sonic blue, fully loaded, car has one ding and one scratch. Headlights are a little hazy but it's exactly what I wanted down to the 4 door. Paid just over $3k for it with a little under 150k miles. (I'll prob put 5k a year on it as I take public transportation to work) just ordered timing belt, idler, tensioner, acc belt, water pump, thermostat, valve cover gasket, and coolant sensor. Oil change yesterday and these parts are going in over the weekend.
