so I picked up what I thought was a girl......

just joking.

I put my car back to stock getting ready to sell or trade.
after the stock axle backs went on it got so quiet. I knew the transmission was whining a little. but with the car so quiet it sounds like a supercharger whine.
so I took it to the dealer.(only 24k miles). they gave me a rental and said it would take a couple days.
they say they will check it out. he also stated ,that if it was cheaper to replace the entire tranny they would instead of rebuilding.

has anyone taken there mt-82 in for whining?
what did they do?

Most try to rebuild it cause its cheaper. But 90% of the time it gets worse. The tranny is still new and most techs can't seem to get it rebuilt right or there faulty parts. The most successful ones are the guys with get a whole tranny replaced.

Only thing is . If they look up the vin it will show the work done to the car. Since it was done at a dealer.

50k on mine and the whine is a little more than at 3k but doesn't seem to have gotten worse since about 15k. I actually think it sounds good so leaving it. I've had people ride with me and swear there is a supercharger on it

It seems like the infamous whine hardly ever gets resolved and also there is never a problem found. Changing fluid may help though, I recommend Amsoil. I've been running it in mine for ~20k miles, zero whine so far.

You should consider using a different type of transmission fluid.;-)

I guess I will wait to see what they say tomorrow.
I know there is a tsb out. I think they put thinner fluid in.
if they fix the whine, either rebuild or replace, what's the best fluid to put in?

just an update.
dealer said they are required to change the fluid to a new formula and add an additive. I am supposed to drive for at least 1000 miles. if it doesn't get better then they will tear into it.

it prolly wont last that long....
I found a DIB recardo seat, auto, nav 13' local.
I am working a deal over the phone and when I get my car back from the service going over to test drive.
