Walbro 400s failed on me tonight after 1500 miles. Received them in November 2012. Had to get the car towed home. That was stressful in itself worrying about the exhaust getting scratched lol! The guy did an awesome job though.

Already looking at alternative pumps (AEM 50-1200). Considering Walbro's refusal to warranty their own product and claiming owner error I'd rather skip their product line all together. If they stood by their product I'd feel better about the situation. Many thought the 400s were E85 compatible until early 2013 when they suddenly came out claiming they are not compatible.

They need to own up to what's going on with the 400 / 405s.

It was frustrating for me when I was told that it couldn't be the pumps. I was told it was the pumps bottoming out due to a bad install or a bent fuel tank. I'm glad I went to the 465s and didn't just order 400s again.

The moment it was known those pumps were incompatible I would have pulled them out... If you can find literature from Walbro that ever stated they are E85 compatible I'd say you have a case...

I remember customers wanting Ford to warranty repairs on their cars for sugar being poured into the gas tank.. or the guy with 45K miles and a seized engine in Expedition that still had the factory grey filter... when asked he thought the car "was maintenance free"...

I'd still go for a set of walbro 465s..

I hear what you're saying. I wanted to switch them out early in the year before I even drove the car much after they had just been installed. However I was re-assured the pumps were fine and very few failures had been seen. Now it seems there are a lot more.

I would think Walbro must have had literature initially claiming these were compatible with all fuels - otherwise Lethal and Fore would not have marketed them as such.

Anyways, that's water under the bridge now.

I feel your pain man, I was the first that discovered that 400s were no good on e85. Got towed home too, and thanks that for that situation Lethal stopped advertising them as NO E85 COMPATIBLE. Saved you future guys buying pumps for e85 and not getting those. 465lph walbros or bust for e85 applications! Never an issue and fuel filter was always clean!

This is what my filter looks like today after it was pulled! How many miles did you have on your 465 walbros when you checked the filter? Did you do anything special to clean out the tank or just flushed your fuel lines? Was the fuel hat modified to accommodate the 465s?

I'm hoping my injectors are not clogged because it was a paper filter. It doesn't look that the paper came apart yet. We will see once it gets back on the dyno.

I've heard that the reason the 405s are not warrantied for E85 is because they only last 8000 hours. 8000? Try 40-50 or even less!

Today i checked my fuel filter for the hell of it and this is what i found. The fuel system is about 3 months old (complete fuel system 1200RWHP system from Lethal). I picked up a new filter immediately and put it in.

And this is comparing each other for reference

Did you happen to pull your injectors an check them? If so did you find anything one them.

Its been a few months since i made this thread. I've sold the car since then. No i did not pull the injectors while i had it. However, i did check the fuel lines in a couple spots post filter, and the lines were clean as a whistle so i can honestly say the filter did its job and nothing got to the injectors
