There's a few new gas stations by my house that now sell e85. I was wanting to get an E85 tune and switch?
Those who run E85: can the stock 2011+ 5.0 fuel system support e85? Are you guy just switching back and forth from e85 to gas or are you leaving e85 in all the time? Did you have to swap out injectors and fuel pump?

stock fuel pump is NOT designed to run e85 long term. It will gum up your fuel system. You also need e85 safe injectors or they will corrode.

Then fill it with gas and swap tunes

but does it need to drained out or can you mix it....lets say you are at a store(93 oct) and have 1/4 left(e85) but the next store isnt another 45mins+ away what do you then? sorry for all the questions but im looking in to e85 as well but travel up north to work

I would run it all the way to empty and swap fuel prior to travel. You can also use a fuel pump tune and disconnect fuel line at fuel rail to drain the tank if needed

Imo E85 is nice but until they sell it everywhere then I would think its just more of a headache

E85 can make a HUGE difference in the life of a boosted coyote motor. Burns cooler, wont detonate, higher octane. IMO, that makes it worth using vs risking getting a bad tank of 91/93 and blowing a motor.

Interesting and informative thread. My only problem is the nearest station with e85 is 20 miles away. It would be tedious to have to go there to fill up every time.

switching from 93 oct to e85 u wanna run it as empty as possible switching from e85 to 93oct u should be ok to fill with 1/4 tank of e85 as really all its gonna do is raise the octane of the 93 a little bit *don't quote me on that but I think I remember reading that in "the distilary" threads*

I gained 60rwhp on a sub par tune just on the fuel swap, probably would have gained more if my timing was right. Here's the dyno tune from PSI motorsports, you can see the tq gained down low and tq/hp in the upper range.

I have Shaun with AED working on a tune for me now and were almost done with the 93 tune to get the proper a/f conversion for E85. I will post some dyno results of the AED E85 tune once we complete it/get it on a dyno.

I really should stop being lazy and post the updates to my car since Shaun recently finished my E85 tune. I went from 640/512 SAE on pump 91 to 776/594 SAE on corn. I'm definitely a believer, but fuel economy went down by almost half haha. Be prepared for around 4-ish mpg less on an NA setup, and I lost about 8 mpg city on E85. Good thing it's not my daily lol.
