I'm watching on CNN right now. I'd say it could have been a lot worse though. They crashed near the end of a 10 hour (over the Pacific) flight from Korea. At least they made it back and so far it looks like most people made it out ok.

It seems the pilot clipped the rocky ledge where the water meets the land, well before where he should have brought the plane down. Seems like human error.

Looked like the tail hit before the runway started. From the sounds of it on the news, there were just injuries, no fatalities.

Do airports, especially larger ones, generally have cameras monitoring every landing? Seems like it would be a good idea, if not for incidents like this, for general pilot training.

Our air traffic control system is mostly antique and other more vital systems need work and constant repair. I dont think its in the budget or the politics to use cameras in that manner.

Now, unfortunately because the media always does it, they will report on every little aircraft with a blown tire for the next 2 weeks. That only makes the general public nervious about flying. Being in the industry I have seen this before and it erks me.

I don't care what caused the landing. I am happy to see no fatalities.

Not so fast my friends. CNN is now reporting that 2 are dead and 60 are "unaccounted for." Gotta love the media! Be the first to report it, even if it ain't true! They should have kept their mouths shut until they knew for sure about the fatalities/missing. :nonono:

Kinda like politicians with guns I guess. Wait, Obama/Biden just made more people go out and buy guns..... Nevermind.

I saw a guy being interviewed late yesterday afternoon. He said the approach looked normal but then he could tell that the plane was too low. Seconds later, it crashed. Sad that there were fatalities, but this could have been so much worse.
