I think the cervini's heat extractor one is the only one that doesn't have a gap without using the 03 front bumper as well.

Don't quote me on that, I think I'm going to do a Cobra R or Cowl hood.

This is correct. The price is what it is. Do you want your car to look clean and factory, or like a teenager pieced it together on a budget and said, "good enough!"? All aftermarket hoods will say they require pins to cover their ass, just incase. With a solid fiberglass hood from a reputable company you should be alright without them.

so if i buy a cervinis hood i should be safe without the hood pins? i know they say theyre necessary but do people really use them?

They say use them for legal reasons. If one of their hoods pops open at speed, and a person is injured or dies, the company could go under from the lawsuit. It's up to you. If you just drive around and obey the law like a normal person you're probably 100% good. If you do high speeds regularly, who knows what could happen. It might fly up, it might be stronger than the OEM design, no one really knows. You could always go with something like the aerocatch hood latches....Some guys on here run them on their track cars and have nothing but positive things to say about them.

Ive been running an ABC exclusive cowl hood for about two years now w/o hood pins. They aren't the most reputable brand but I have not had any issues. frequent 75mph highway driving with an occasional 120mph glory trip

It's hard to say. I don't want to tell you something then have your hood come back on you at 75. There was a guy on here that had his aftermarket hood fly up 2 times! Another option would be something I saw YEARSSSS back in MM&FF. It was probably around 2006-2007. A guy had an 01 cobra with 04 hood, and he had a body shop add material to the "horn" areas of the bumper to take up the gap. Looked factory, I wouldn't have noticed if they didn't mention it. Would probably cost 300-400 after labor and paint. I can't for the life of me find the article though. I remember it was a yellow supercharged 99-01 though.

Not a Cobra, but the hood is a Cervinis 03/04. It fit perfect and looks great too.

That's a killer GT. My one thought about the 03 04 hood is that they raised the inlet like that to enhance the heat extractor effect. Maybe that 1 inch lower cervinis line decreases the effectiveness of it without as direct a path? Thoughts?

Thanks, Not sure about the air flow. I only bought the hood since it gave me more clearance for my KB and didnt want a cowl hood.

The front bumper was reshaped to give a large opening for the heat exchanger without sacrificing ground clearance. Pretty sure the change in hood shape was a mere afterthought to compensate.
