Will this mod still work if you dim the cabin lights? Looks to me like you won't have enough juice to drive the fog light relay...

If you Dim the cabin lights it does not work.

Do you mind explaining what the wiring swap does that it affects the cabin lights, if you know of course? And also, when you say cabin lights, are you speaking of the dash lights? Those are the only lights I know that can be dimmed, using the headlight knob, that I can think of. Thanks :beer:

Also, aside from not having to splice, is there a benefit from the splice in method?

The wiring swap doesn't affect the cabin lights at all, but dimming the cabin lights will cause the mod to stop working.

Cabin lights means all of the lights controlled by the dimmer knob, including the dash lights.

Not sure I understand the question. The fog light mod at the top of this thread does not require splicing, whereas the other fog light mods do AFAIK. My mod comes the closest for a coupe in that it does not require a splice. My mod would require a splice if it were done in a convertible.

That is not the fog light relay for my 96. In my 96, the fog light relay is a Ford-FOAB-14B192-AA

Here's the top view:

I can't figure out which relay terminal you broke off. Looking at the schematics, I can't see how breaking off any of the relay terminals would make this mod work:

Thanks for the great response. The part about the splice I was asking was because I thought there was another way to get the fogs to come on that required a splice. I was asking what the benefit would be, aside from having to splice wires, if I did the other method which requires me to splice wires....meaning I don't mind splicing wires or using splice in connectors if I can accomplish the same result.
