Well since everyone is having problems with the black residue on the filter im getting a little scared to run E-85 on my car. I will be running Triple Walbro 255's, Is anyone having an issue with the 255's, if so; I'll have to purchase new pumps, damn!

I am currently having trouble with this. I run triple 255s. I don't know if its the pumps or what. I know I found my filter clogged, cleaned it, it ran great for like a day. Then same shit happened dropped Fuel pressure, went lean. Thank god for A/F gauge otherwise would have popped my motor. So i checked the fuel filter its clean, now I'm wondering what's causing the low fuel pressure, still gotta pull the injectors and check them thinking there clogged, or could be one of my pumps are taking a shit....

BTW My car was tuned at RET also, tune is spot on!

I just pulled the paper filter element on our 2013 GT500 last week and it was clean with no black residue. I only have about 100 miles on the car with the new setup but figured I'd check it anyways. We're running 3 400lph walbros with E85 and support XXXXrwhp.

I've since swapped out the paper element for our new stainless 10 micron one.

Now my e85 03 cobra which has the 400's in it as well did have a pretty dirty paper filter element when I checked it last. That car has about 1000 miles on it since I put the 400's in. The car presently makes 872rwhp. I never noticed any type of fuel pressure loss or lean condition so there's no reason for me to pull the pumps. I replaced my paper element with another paper element since our stainless ones weren't available when I checked it. I will pull the element in a few weeks and see how it looks.

Most likely one of your pumps is taking a hit

Damn, so what now? Buy new pumps? Let me know what you find out about that issue. How many miles since you have had the E85?

Not sure yet, hopefully I won't have to. I will be checking everything in few weeks when it gets alittle bit warmer. This setup (on E85) has about 3000 miles and is about a year and a half old.

On a random note can a bad FPR cause lean condition? Never heard of them going out but its a possibility.

Not reading this whole thread, but that is the common "tar" that some stations get. It's not his tank, fuel lines or any of that jazz, it's where he gets his fuel from. It'll have the correct ethanol content if you test it, it's just one of those things that some places/cars get it, some don't. Gumout makes a treatment for it that fixes it.

Can you elaborate anymore? Given that you don't change your filter, that will obviously kill your pumps since are having to work extra hard.

Yes. All fprs have some droop under load. The more the deltaP droops, the more likely you are to run lean. The eclipse is supposed to compensate with inj duty but in my testing I have not been able to tune it to be effective.

Also test for boost leaks around the fpr and log battery voltage & pressure drop across the injectors.

I just had a similar issue with my e85 powered turbo s2000. fuel pressure was dropping a good 25-30psi at full boost after only 1 tank of gas with my brand new 25 micron SS magna fuel filter. Took the filter element out and back up to full pressure! Interestingly enough I filled up from a new station immediately before noticing the pressure drop.

After cleaning my filter it flowed perfectly fine again. Then a day later i started having fuel pressure drop again and it was again clogged. I really hope i just got a bad tank of e85.

Can you change it out again, drain the tank and fill up at a different station and see if you have the same results?
I already cleaned the filter and drained the tank. I will hopefully go get some more e85 this weekend. The place I normally go is pretty far away, but it is quality gas and I have never had issues with it so I think Im going to keep making the drive.

Its not the fuel. When i had the 405s on the car i would get a black/clogged filter within a couple days. After i switched to the 465s and a couple hundred miles the filter looks brand new. Same gas station, same fuel

It's not the pumps guys, I'm running them with no issues, in 2 different cars so there is no way it's the pumps, it's either fuel or hose break down, I also bet u guys didn't know that the fore filter turn black just being in e85 that does not mean its stopped up
