I believe you use the multi-vehicle atf, at least thats for the older cars like mine. Friends tranny was whinning and after swapping to the the amsoil fluid it no longer whines. Good stuff.

Is there a better one out of the two or are they pretty much both equal?
Wouldn't amsoil in theory offer more protection than redline 90 vs 80 hot weight? Or am I totally wrong in this regard.

Living here in NC sometimes we have temps as cold as 20's rarely though.

This is the correct Amsoil correct? AMSOIL Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90

This is the correct redline?
Red Line Synthetic Oil - Gear Oil for Manual Transmissions - MTL 70W80 GL-4 Gear Oil

Correct for what vehicle?:dw::shrug:

Also are you taking about filling manual transmission or a differential?

I put Amsoil MTG (your link above is the correct stuff) in my car and noticed a big difference. My trans had a little whine out of the factory and the MTG seemed to quiet it down significantly. It is not totally gone but a noticeable improvement. I live in the high desert of Southern California and morning temps have been in the teens all this week. I've noticed the first 3-5 shifts of the day can be a little tough, but once the trans warms up everything is good to go. If I double clutch the first few shifts or pump the clutch a few times it seems to make those first few shifts a lot smoother. When the weather was in the 30's I didn't notice any degradation in shifting. Your weather in NC sounds similar to what I drive in out here so I would definitely recommend the Amsoil.

Reserve Amsoil MTG for hot climates.

Red Line MTL or Amsoil MTF Synchromesh for moderate to cold climates.

MTG has shown signs of early morning cold notchy even here in Northwest Florida.

Thing I'm worried about is less protection if I went with redline.

What do you define as hotter climates?

I haven't seen many people post about using Amsoil Syncromesh unless I wasn't looking hard enough.

Mt-82 = 11+ gt mustang 5.0

You must know that Ford dropped the viscous lubricant when the 2011 first rolled out. It was a cheap viscous lubricant, even more viscous than Amsoil MTG. The transmission had the grind of death.

Ford changed the lubricant to a dual clutch lubricant that is less viscous than ATF. Red Line MTL and Amsoil MTF Synchromesh are BOTH more viscous than the new lubricant Ford uses from the OEM. You would actually be protecting your MT-82 better than the new Ford fill. Amsoil MTF has a far more robust anti-wear additive package than OEM as well.

Is that fluid suitable for track and autox ?

Depending on the climate and duration of use, I'd think it would do far better than what the OEM is putting in the MT-82.

If you would trust the transmission to Ford's spec, you should more than trust it with Amsoil MTF.

I live in the Phoenix area and we go from one extreme to the other. It's been down in the teens in the winter and can get to 120 in the summer. I am currently running Amsoil MTF and I seems to take a while to warm up in the winter. I am wondering if I should be running mtg as more of an all around fluid. Let me know what u guys think.
