With the TVS blower on the rise for popularity based off past experience on other cars.... we had to get our hands on one to see if this blower is worth that much. As we all know, the 2013 GT500 swapped to the TVS 2300 blower and helped produce the insane number and make the new Shelby's one of the most feared cars on the market.
We had the chance to work with a local customer and SVTP resident and do this swap on his 2009 GT500. What we did was compare his old set up to this new set up. I have gathered information to give the best and most realistic results on this swap. Now this blower is not for everyone but for the price... you really can't beat it.
The car.....
This is a 2009 GT500. The exterior was left bone stock which in my eyes is great. Nothing to look at but the car in it's original form. And a beauty she is at that.
Now under the hood, this car already had some modifications. We have worked on this car before adding the old items and we were also happy he had the modifications because most Shelby owners have these same mods or close to it. The motor had a Steeda 2.6 pulley, Steeda Idler pullies with bracket, C&L CAI, Dynatech Longtube headers with a Off Road X Pipe and TR6 Plugs.
We strapped it on the dyno real quick once it was cooled down so we can see where we were starting at. As you can see, it was already pretty stout for HP with the basic mods.
Although that number was very good.... we wanted more. LOL
Now Ill be dead honest... This is a VERY easy install and from start to finish will take you around 4hours tops.
Listed below is everything that we swapped to. We wanted to use the best parts for this install so as you can see, we swapped to the Ford Racing TVS Upgrade, 72lb Injectors, FRPP TB (which comes with the blower) and a JLT Carbon Fiber Big Air CAI System. So as you can.... very basic upgrades.
Installing the TVS as I said before was pretty easy and straight forward. Your re-using your lower maniold so the only thing you are replacing is the head unit, rails, TB, and Intake.
And the finished product
We kept the stock TVS pulley on it because we wanted to see the boost level and know where to start.
Once this was installed.... we backed her back onto the roller's and let Chris do his magic with tuning. Now... after only 3 pulls, this beast was ready to roll.
Here is a dyno video:

Here is the stock pulley boost. No crank or other supporting boost mods. I must say though... Very impressive!!!

So again, with the TVS swap on a stock pulley, FRPP TB, 72lb Injectors, JLT C.F. Big Air CAI, Dynatech Longtubes with off road X, NGK Plugs on 15lbs with a A/F of 11.3 and 17degrees of timing with 93 Pump she put down......
I must say.... this system is very impressive and with the supporting mods can make your Shelby an evil machine!!!! I couldn't believe the difference. below is a compared graph so you can see the over 100hp gains
ECT and IAT was very low with having only a AFCO dual pass Heat X w/o Fans.
This has by far made me a believer of this blower swap for good power without spending a lot on a whole new system. You just can't beat it!
Parts used in install:
FRPP TVS Shelby Upgrade Kit: $2999.99
72lb Injectors: $649.99
JLT C.F. Big Air CAI: $469.99
Now for this prices listed above you can make almost 700rwhp. - supporting mods recommend to make the #
Any further questions... please feel free to call.
