that's a really nice looking piece(as is the GT500 nose)! though i bet you could get a few more buyers if you produced a version to work with the factory hinges.

I don't think that has down force, am I wrong?
you gotta remember that the atmosphere we live in is pressurized(14.7PSI at sea level), so everything within the atmosphere is experiencing pressure from all sides.
so, as a car moves through the air, it's forcing the air out of the way above it, below it, and around the sides. the air that is flowing around the car wants to fill in the pocket of space that the car is taking up(since the air is pressurized), and as such the air is pressing on the nose of the car, on the sides, up from the bottom(creating lift), and down from the top(creating downforce). so, as the air flows over the roof and down the rear window, it's pushing down on the car. adding a prostock style rear wing extends the rear of the car and extends the time that air is pushing down on the car, trying to fill in the pocket that it's taking up. now, there is space beneath the wing that the air can press up on as well, but remember that the car is moving so there is a low pressure area(vacuum) beneath the wing that the high pressure area above it is trying to fill in. so, the faster the car is moving, the lower the pressure is beneath the wing and thus the more downforce it produces. this is the same way a conventional wing(airfoil) works, the shape of the airfoil(when used to produce downforce instead of life) creates a high pressure area above it and a low pressure area below it, and downforce is created as the high pressure area presses down on the wing in an attempt to fill in the low pressure area below.
so, yes, you would be wrong, a prostock style wing does create downforce.

In an interesting test the MMR Pro Mod car that uses a flat style wing had some strange rear shock readings from 1/2 track on (about 190mph+), the shocks were completely bottomed out according to our racepak data which we initially thought was wrong, We lowered the wing setting and gained back over 1 inch of travel (also picked up about 4mph). It turns out the down force had placed over 1.1 inches of preload on the springs/shocks, this preload when duplicated on the weight scales was over 450lbs !! So yes, this type of wing is very functional and places tremendous load on the the rear of the vehicle/components.

:burn: I was thinking of this wing

then I remembered I have this photo

not clear but you can see what spoiler is on the car.
Thanks for being patient :kaboom:

I know it's been mentioned above, but pics of the underside would be great.
Best II could find on Google image search...

yep, I found those too, I kinda ment a underside shot of an uninstalled new piece, that way it's pretty clear whats involved in mounting it & weither or not it has a hope of working with the weatherstripping on a somewhat street car (I realize it will need aftermarket fasteners, I'm curious about it sealing)

Like MMR stated the hinges weigh roughly 4#. The trunk reinforcement weighs in at a little over 4# if your willing to cut that out. Be very careful if you choose to do that. The reinforcement is very close to the outer skin and it is secured with foam to it so you can't just pull or you will damage the skin. It also makes the trunk lid more flimsy when opening and closing.

So in short this saves more weight and is stronger. If you are allowed in your class to do it go for it. I am not allowed to in Stock/Super Stock so hence I had to go the hard way to lose less weight.

We suggest dzus style fasteners for this lid, is there are particular part of the wing you would like pics of?
