To ADM or not, that is the question!

I have never paid an ADM on a new vehicle but I am starting to hear a lot of buzz about dealers wanting ADM for the initial allocations and ordered units.

I would like to know what kinds of deals people are finding when ordering the GT500:

  1. ADM over MSRP
  2. MSRP
  3. Invoice or under MSRP

For buyers in category 2 & 3, can you list your dealer and contact so we can support these dealers and possibly get them more buyers and more deals for SVT members?

Sounds like an awesome deal! We need more dealers willing to sell for a reasonable price with a reasonable profit.

Only do ADM if:
You can pay cash for the vehicle and adm and ttl fees without touching retirement or emergency funds
You can make the adm fees back within a year with your other investments
You make more than 5 times the total costs of the car in net income

If you can not do one of the 3 above dont throw your money away!

Good info right there. After the inital 6 months there will be deals to be had on these cars.

So if the ADM is $1,000, then the above applies and if you pay MSRP then none apply :D.

The bottom line is if you pay an ADM consider this immediately depreciated. When you go to sell the car it will be at market value which will not care that you paid an ADM.

If you have the money and want it enough, then you decide if it is worth it. As others have said, search small dealers in the Midwest and other rural areas.

If you don’t get the first year allocation, you will get next years, which should still be late this year, I think.

I am a very impatient immature boy in a mans body and decided not to wait. I picked up a new Z07 at $10K off MSRP a couple of weeks ago even though I had a deal for the first one at my dealer for 1k under MSRP. The allocation should still be available as of early last week.

So, for me, I have a new toy and I can now wait until next year for a new GT500……….Steve

If you are talking a $1K ADM, that is one thing but I am hearing $10K - $25K markups by some dealers. I can never think of a time when that would be justified, even if I was paying cash, etc. Once the interest slows and people start looking at the 2014 or even the new 2015, this will be just like the 2012 is now.

Imagine a year from now you are sitting on a $85K 2013 with the 2014's coming out, 2013's going for invoice or better, and more info on the new 2015 redesign - bad position to be in.

everyone should take into account that buying at a local dealer at 1000-2500 higher instead of from a rural dealer that is far from you may be an advantage.

If you have a issue w the car or need service, the local guy isnt going to go to bat for you if theres an issue. If they sold you the car they will bend over backwards for you or look away especially if you mod the car.

Id rather pay a little bit more locally. But thats me.

Sherwood Ford in Sherwood Park, Alberta (sorry to all the American's :( ) is offering MSRP for their car's. They had a post on Kijji a while back about it.

Anyways, my sister got her 2012 Vert from them at $60,000 which is way below what they go for up here in Canada but that was due to the Ford Family Pricing. They're a great dealer they were apparently the Top SVT dealer in Canada last year (I personally wouldn't be surprised they had them coming and going, left and right. I'd for sure recommend them if you're in the area!

(I just realized what a plug that sounds like, I assure you I am not getting any further discounts from them for saying any of this :D unless my salesperson is reading, which in that case.... JK)

Not only no but HELL NO. It's just more money pissed away to the instant depreciation you get the second you drive it off the lot.

I have never paid over MSRP - I rarely even pay that - and I never will, I don't care what the car is.

IMO MSRP is still a crap deal as the biggest drop-in value is the first year you own the car. Somewhere between msrp and invoice is where these cars should be selling for. Ford has already said they will make as many as people will buy so that limited production line isn't going to fly this year. Cars sold for sticker are making dealers anywhere from 5-8k depending on options. There is plenty of wiggle room in price if you can find a decent dealer, bigger cities are going to be the worst for adm's.

I fall in category 3..When I purchased my 12 for $46k and MSRP was $52k that's 6k off which was invoice..Made a deal with my dealership for 1/2 between invoice and MSRP..So with what I ordered at $64k ..So without dealership price till 3-21. I can only guess with me purchasing between 3 to 4k off MSRP.. Somewhere around 62k out the door with taxes..Nc taxes are 3% of purchase price..I feel very lucky at this price..

I am looking for a category 3 deal also, looks like you have a good and reasonable dealer to work with.

The dealers I have contacted say they only have 1 or 2 allocations and they want over MRSP, they also say they can't order more for now. Didn't Ford say they would build one for everyone who wants one, shouldn't they take orders even if they queue up behind the initial allocations? Sounds like they are trying to artificially limit supply to increase price.

I ordered mine for 1500 over invoice from my dealer I have been dealing with for years and several new car purchases but he did say that they will add a ADM for buyers who have not done business with them recently
