My converter seems to be loose so I expect to lose...............

Do you have a locking converter? Who did you end up going with to build the tranny?

I had the wrong dip stick and found out the hard way that I was actually about 4 Quarts low on fluid at the track yesterday.
The longer one is the one I had, the shorter one is the one I should have had.

Yep I got the yellow handled dipstick as well.
I ordered my dipstick and tube from mpsautosalvage.com out of a wrecked 2003 Mach 1. Fit great.

My transmission was built by Earl Schexnayder out of Louisiana. He runs in Hot Rod magazine's shootouts with a purple ford F100 truck. He's also recently been paired up with Nick Owens twin turbo mustangs for Hot Rod Drag Week this year. So far it's doing great.
I don't have a lockup converter, but the transmission is capable of lockup if I wanted (but I'd have to change the converter).
I feel the lockup is not needed for what I do.
Earl told me NOT to lock it up under full throttle anyway as it would break (he's seen it happen before).

Hope you didn't hurt your trans running it low in fluid!

There are places making lock-up converters for 1000rwhp cars with the 4R's. BC Automotive supplies such a converter and some even lock it up in 2nd and keep it locked into 3rd gear. Apparently they live.

The lock-up would be nice for a street car as it would cut down on the heat also. Plus it's like having a little extra gear.

Ihad built 4r70w, locked up the converter 1 TIME in second and twisted the 300m input shaft ,not a good idea locking them up under full throttle

I have the wot box. I'm still trying to get it figured it out and have been talking to Jon trying to get it fixed. I see maybe 2 to 3 lbs on the foot brake but with the transbrake I've seen about 10lbs.

They can be made to lock up in 3rd under WOT and live. I'm not advocating doing it in 2nd but some do successfully. I would not do it in 2nd as there is no reason to do so.

Even if you don't lock it up under WOT, the other benefits are there for a street car.
