My car died on me a little over a month ago to the extent that I was told by a local Ford dealership (San Tan) that my engine seized and needed replacement, ok well as fishy as that sounded I've been looking around to find a reputable shop that A.) Has access to motors at a reasonable price and B.) Install it without completely f*cking me. Anyway, so far I've come across AMP Performance in Tempe and Stage3 Motorsport in Phoenix. Does anyone have any feedback concerning these two companies? AMP has quoted me an '04 Mach 1 motor with 40K miles for $3500 from their salvage yard and $1700 to have the main store install it with all corresponding parts including wiring harness, etc. If that's a good deal and they do great work I'll go with them. It's coming down to my last week of fully funding this project before I make the decision so I just wanted to make sure to cover my ass and not end up sh*t outta luck $5200 later with a car that doesn't work right.

Don't go to amp. Never been there but have heard many horror stories. Plus a friend of mine worked there before and he told me how bad they screw people over there. Reason why he left quickly.

too bad i cannot get that thread to work because apparently there are no reputable tuning specialists in Arizona that one can recommend on this forum without someone else mentioning they know of another dude who got ripped off.

EDIT - I guess when you PCS for a few months a bunch of stuff goes down. PSR is closed!!!

PSR went under, but PSR Tuning is still around. PSR was owned by Dan Boardman and he was one of the main reasons it went into the ground. Devin, who is probably one of the best tuners in the Southwest, was the tuner at PSR and bought and revived the company and is now called PSR Tuning. It is in the same location as PSR was. They have also teamed up with FAT (Forced Air Technologies) in Phoenix and combined shops on the PSR property.

rumors and horror stories aside, i'm backing AMP performance 100%.

dropped my 22 year old fox beater off for new rear control arms, transmission cross member, 3.55 gears, and a rear main seal leak repair yesterday.
initially they quoted hundred$ in labor to fix the leak but soon called back to advise it was merely a grommet on the valve cover dripping down the back of my passenger side cylinder head. they fixed it free of charge.
also received a discount on parts and labor for the other work that took only 1 day to complete.
while there, i saw three other customer cars on their racks as they gave me a complete tour of the facilities.
the owners brother runs an all mustang salvage yard 1 block away too.

i'm just one in a group of many ford freaks here but figured i should share my positive experience on this thread which seems stuck in the doldrums.

Thanks Scott, I've been there a handful of times and the 1st time I did they presented me with an unexpected experience by not only having the Lakewood 90/10 struts that I've been looking for available but gave me a pretty decent price considering what I would've spent online with s&h so I'm just curious how they are when it comes to the work I'm going to need. I'm contemplating talking with the owner/mgr again and see what they can do, I'd like to see if I can fix whatever is wrong with my motor and hope to god it's not shot and then put the rest of the money into maybe cams, longtubes, stall convertor, maybe a head job or whatever I can get done for $5200 or even less.

Anybody ever used Car guy? The owner at the one one in Chandler is a big mustang nut. They work on all cars, but he gets a lot of mustangs in there. I pass by it every day and it's full of mustangs from Saleens, Cobras, to GT and V6's. They just had a meet and greet bbq on Saturday so everyone could meet the staff and what not. They all were very friendly and I've heard many great things from them. I once went to get a tensioner for my old gt and they gave it to me for free haha. They also seem to work on a lot of GM muscle cars. They had a few HCI camaros they were working on as well as a classic Chevelle SS. One of their nicest projects that they had on display was an 03 black termi on Saleens. Such a sexy car. They had the motor taken apart on display so everyone could see their work. Blower and everything apart. I think I might just try them out soon, some gears and subframes :)

Sorry for the novel I'm just ubber excited to have a shop that works on stangs in the area now!

I hear that, I just wanna get my car back up and running. I'm really hoping the engine needs a minor fix so I can upgrade some stuff, would love a blower and 3800 stall convertor or depending on price a stout N/A car with a 3800 stall convertor, either way I want a convertor LoL. I'm going to have to check that place out, where are they located?

You might want to check your info on this. Last I heard, Shane and Devin shut down. They had owned PSR for a while. I was in there around March(ish) and have since shut down. Check the thread from the other site above.

Does anyone know what happened to Dean and Rob from SVC Motorsports? I know SVC closed down many years ago now (4 to 5?), but they did great work. They were located near the Scottsdale airport. On a side note, I would love to get my hands on the Fox turbo Dean was building...

Sign up on Arizonas fastest street cars forum and do a search or ask for reputable shops. If you buy a membership you will get a discount.

I used PSR when I lived in Peoria and devin treated me great and spent a lot of hours getting my tune straight and shift points perfect. I have a Auto car. I ran with AFSC and they despised that I used that shop because of Dan and his business practices. Basically he wouldn't sponsor any sanctioned club races. Far as I know they, PSR, are closed. I found this out in September from a friend that was asking me who I trusted in the area.

I'll ask my buddy who did the tuning on his Cobra and what local forum to use for further advice.

Edit: also I checked out Arizona Dyno Chip (AZDC) in chandler but never had my car worked on or tuned there but I had heard great things about Keith. Not sure if they are still open.

I haven't lived in AZ since June 2010.
