My cobra's shifter is stiff, harder to get into 2nd, 3rd, and 4th if I am accelerating quickly.

Dropping it into first is no problem and it's not difficult if I drive like a grandma.

There is no grinding. Clutch is good.

thanks much

Stock shifter.

The clutch is a Center Force dual friction -- my son-in-law burned out my clutch a couple of years ago.

Except for synthetic oil and the clutch, my car is completely stock.

Lots of us here in Georgia. I ordered my car from Billy Howell in Cumming. It's been great.

The only thing i can think of would be the clutch not disengaging enough, or something internal going on in the trans. Im not sure exactly the symptoms of bent shift forks would be. Im sure someome else will chime in here and help..

Thanks.

The car is all stock, except for synthetic oil and the Center Force dual friction clutch (which came when my son-in-law burned out the clutch starting in 4th gear).

Might be the factory clucth quadrant - could need an adjustment. If the Centerforce clutch is stiffer than the OEM one, you might have a bit of cable stretch as well. If you aren't out beating on the car on a regular basis, your tranny is probably fine.

Thanks.
The Center Force clutch pedal pressure hasn't changed; it is still about half what the stock clutch was.

Thanks. I'll get it taken care of.

It's nice to have a car with 93k miles and that is 9 years old that still drives like it did new or better -- when the the shifter gets fixed it will be back.

when you are in neutral and push the shifter from side to side does it bounce back or kinda stick to one side??

It bounces back.

I guess I am different from most people here -- I don't do my own work on cars anymore. I quit back when I was changing points (they burned frequently) on my 1971 Opel GT.

So I figure I need to take it to someone who specializes in high performance vehicles, especially Mustangs. I am going to Dugan Racing next week.

Thanks
