Are You Ready to Buy a Low Mileage Terminator?

Spring it in the air and slumbering street beasts will soon be coming out of Winter hibernation. But what if you’re in need of a new ride for 2018? Well it certainly seems to be time to get into a low-mileage super clean Terminator. With just a quick glance at the SVTP Terminator Market Forum I found 3 separate 2003-04 Cobras, all with less than 20,000 miles on the clock.

These cars are all hyper clean and fairly tastefully modded, but all that comes at a price. Don’t walk up to a knowledgeable Terminator owner and expect to rake them over the coals. These guys know their cars are at the top of the market, and their prices reflect it. So if you’re in the market for basically an as-near-to-new...

2019 Ford Ranger - 5 Misses

Earlier this week we published a list of what we here at SVTP consider to be 5 of the best features of the upcoming 2019 Ford Ranger. However, with the good comes the bad. While this is purely an opinion piece, we believe this list tracks right to the heart of former Ranger owners. Traditionally, Ranger buyers seemed to like their trucks more 'trucky' than most other truck buyers. So it stands to reason our list is made up of those burlier features that make a small truck more capable and engaging. Without further adieu, here is SVTP's list of Five 2019 Ford Ranger Misses.

2019 Ford Ranger - 5 Hits

It’s been a couple weeks since the 2019 Ford Ranger was introduced at the 2018 North American International Auto Show, and we've had time to digest some of the information presented with it. I have to say that it is a good looking truck, and I’m really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of one. While that’s going to be a bit farther down the road, enough time has passed for us absorb the information Ford has provided us thus far. So here are the Five Hits we here at SVTP see with the 2019 Ford Ranger.

9 Things We Want in a US-Spec Ranger Raptor

It’s been about a year since Ford announced that the Ranger would be returning to US roads. In that time we’ve seen a few prototypes running around, and had a recent introduction at the 2017 North American International Auto Show. Two days ago we saw the reveal of the Raptor Ranger for foreign markets, but it’s still debatable whether we’ll be seeing that particular Hi-Po Ford on our shores. However, until we know something more concrete about whether or not we’ll be getting a Ranger Raptor here think it would be a good idea to delve into what we would expect from such a Ford. This is our TOP 9 (Ain't nobody got time for 10) List of features we want to see in a US-Spec Ford Ranger Raptor.

Terminator's Manley Rods Get a Little Emotional

So this is a weird one. SVTP Vendor, and all around nice guys, Pro-Dyno recently made a somewhat interesting discovery. While tearing down a Terminator engine for a rebuild they found that a previous engine builder had left them a little surprise in the form of eight smiley faces, one on each rod.

We’ve long known that the factory Manley H-Beam Connecting Rods were a point of pride for Terminator owners, but someone took their happiness with the forged bits to another level. Now we’ve found some odd things inside of engines over the years, mostly bits dropped in by a careless assembler, but this one was new to us. The closest thing I can think of was a time...

SVTP Coverage of PRI 2017 - 150+ Pics and a Vid

The Christmas season brings my favorite show of the year, the annual Performance Racing Industry trade show. For those unfamiliar, PRI is an industry-only show that is not open to the public. Instead of being a 'car show', PRI is a Car-Parts-Show. Every year in Decemeber, the best manufacturers in the performance automotive aftermarket industry gather to show off their latest wares.

Unfortunately, for the past several years the show has been held in Indianapolis, IN; whereas it had been located in Orlando, FL in years past. I don't know about you, but when I think of the places I want to go spend a week in the middle of winter Indy is pretty low on the list. It actually ranks below Detroit, and all of Canada (even the part where Trailer Park Boys is filmed)...

Steeda Racer Donnie Gilder Wins Mod Nationals Heavy Street Class

Just as Steeda has done for three decades now, we’ve delivered outstanding performance with precision engineered and high quality upgrades built for the enthusiast, by the enthusiasts. Donnie Gilder’s 4,000+ lb street-driven S550 Mustang is further proof of that.

Equipped with a factory rear & trans, full interior, ice-cold air conditioning, and bolt-on Steeda suspension, she ran a best of 8.962 with a 1.28 60ft at South Georgia Motorsports Park. Consistency ultimately brought home the win for Donnie, running bottom 9’s to 8’s all Friday morning til Sunday afternoon with 1.28-1.31 short times, and zero spin all weekend...

LMR 2018 MUSTANG GT HEADS TO THE DRAG STRIP - RUNS 12.02 @ 117 MPH

One of the most highly anticipated changes for the 2018 Mustang GT was the switch from the venerable 6R80 6-Speed automatic transmission to the 10R80 10-Speed that made its debut in the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor. Behind the High-Output 3.5 EcoBoost in a truck the new tranny has proven to be quite stout, but the really question was how it would perform behind the new dual-injected 5.0 Coyote V8 in everybody's favorite Pony-Car. Luckily for us, SVTP Vendor Late Model Restoration just picked up a new 2018 Mustang GT equipped with the new 10R80 auto; along with a few other popular options...

I don't know how deep you guys have been looking into the 2018 Mustang updates, but the changes Ford has made to the S550 have really taken it to another level. The new Level II Performance Pack has set the new standard for affordable excellence. As expected it hasn't taken long for SVTP Vendors to start digging into the car. In this case, American Muscle waited precisely no time getting their new manual transmission equipped 2018 Mustang GT out on the streets for a drive...

Tech: VMP Performance Focus RS SEMA Build

One new Ford that I have been itching to spend more time in is the potent Focus RS. With over 300HP on tap and AWD keeping that power planted the car definitely has the makings for a very fun ride. But everyone here on SVTP knows that modded is preferable to stock, and SVTP Vendor VMP Performance certainly knows how to mod. So when I first heard that they were building an RS for the 2017 SEMA show I knew I wanted to dig in and learn more about this project...

DEARBORN - Since its introduction in 2011, the Ford Performance 5.0L Coyote crate engine has been an enthusiast favorite and a staple of Ford’s Mustang GT lineup. With the 2015 model year came the first major design changes to the 5.0L Coyote engine, creating a market for 2011-2014 Mustang GT owners looking to install a new Coyote engine compatible with their model year. Out of this, Ford Performance developed the new 5.0L Coyote Long Block, Gen 1 crate engine which brings the improvements made to the 2015-2017 Coyote (Gen 2) crate engine to 2011-2014 Mustang GT owners...

American Muscle Installs a Vortech V-3 Si-Trim on a Coyote GT

Several years ago SVTP Vendor American Muscle took the plunge and got in deep with their original content video production, and I have to say that the production value and content is top notch. Take the latest episode of their Hot Lab series for example. Stephanie Wood, an AM staffer, walks you through the installation of a Vortech V-3 Si-Trim supercharger kit on an S-197 Mustang GT. From tear-down to test-drive drive she discusses the finer points of the entire process and supporting mod choices. The episode is capped off with some dyno runs and a trip to the drag strip for some real world results...
