If you wanted better fuel economy, 4:10s weren’t the best option.
That said, if it’s a DD, do the MMR head cooling mod ASAP. My 97 Cobra is at Kurgan right now due to an overheated and failed driver side cam that caused even more damage when it completely let go.
Meanwhile, you can hop online and buy a complete diesel delete kit, no problem.
Not that I’m against it, it’s just weird that I can’t buy a new O/R X pipe for what’s now considered an “antique” vehicle.
Thanks fellas! I found a guy locally with a BBK off-road X pipe, for long tubes, for sale that came off his 96 Cobra. Sounds easier than trying to find a new one and hoping it fits up.
So BBK still makes the long tubes for 96-98 Cobras, but they no longer offer the matching X pipe without cats. Only option now is high flow cats.
Anyone have experience with these Flowtech X pipes and know if they fit up with the BBK long tubes?

Removed the plugs and the starter still won’t turn it. Can’t spin it with a breaker bar on the harmonic balancer either.
No, Oreilleys bench tested the old one. It was actually bad. Seized.
Pretty sure it’s seized. Replaced the starter and it still won’t turn over. Removed the serpentine belt and pulled all the plugs. Still can’t turn the crank with a breaker bar and 18mm socket at the harmonic damper.
I’m going to have it towed in to a local Mustang shop and let them inspect it...
So, it happened. My 97 Cobra’s o-rings in the oil cooler finally gave up after 27 years. With that, your typical mixing of oil and coolant and a lovely brown smoothie in my oil pan and radiator.
Today I drained the oil and radiator. Removed the oil filter and luckily my local Ace had a 1/2”...
Thanks for the info guys. I ended up getting up early, dropping the exhaust , and swapping a new starter in.
Had to take the old one in for the core anyways, so had them bench test it. Locked up tight AF.
Got the new one with a lifetime warranty (though, I hope to never need to do this...
Thanks for making me feel dumb. I should have tried this when I had it on stands yesterday. I can definitely get to it to hit. I got under there to realize replacing it would totally suck. Looks like the mid-pipe has to come off first.
Great idea. Def seems to be sticking. If I bump the key...
97 Cobra won’t start.
Pulled the battery after trickle charging for 24 hours and had it tested at Oreilleys. It’s only 3 months old and checked out fine.
Sounds like the starter engages but won’t turn the motor over.
Thoughts? Bad starter? Vid link below.
