Ford GT blows out radiator causing a Z28 to get totalled.
2004 2V, went to the track on Saturday Feb. 4th. He filmed a few races and a silver Ford "GT" that ran as well, how rare. The GT ran a 13.6?@88mph and the radiator hose blew down the track. A red Camaro Z28 was in line right after the GT, doing his burn-out and ready to run his car. The camaro launched his car and did his run but right as he was down the track he his the Ford GT's engine coolant and lost control, hitting the sidewalls which lead to his motor catching on fire. He immediately got out the car as it was being taken care of. The camaro Z28 driver wants to get this handled through his insurance. The sad part is that, half the people there had it on film. Soon to be posted in Videos section.

The track generally sucked before that and my Cobra with no overheating issues beat a new Saleen S281s/c, 12.1 @ 118 to 13.6 @ 106. I also have GT on tape as well as the Cobra waxing the floor with the Saleen. Just no clue on how to host.
I think the track could be held responsible for this, they should have properly cleaned up the coolant. I know when I go to a track I assume that everything is safe, no debris or fluids on the track etc.

insurance handling it.. fat chance.. (unless he has race insurance) also, you sign waivers saying the track isn't liable bla bla bla if you get into a wreck..
he's out one Z28, and the GT owner is out a radiator(probably boiled over) if so, he's out some water..

I believe that problem is on all Ford GT's. If I'm not mistaken, it is actually been posted as a recall for all Ford GT's because of that problem. A buddy of mine down here in South Florida knows a guy with a GT and his car had the same thing happen to him just driving on the street. Anyhow, all, take it easy.

I'm glad to see the boner in the GT was pushing his car to the limit... 13.6 is an awesome time. I feel sorry for the guy in the Z28... It's a shitty way to lose a car. I always think about this sorta thing when people in the staging lanes bitch and bitch about how long it takes to clean up the track. There is a reason it takes so long, dipshits....

13.6 for a GT is horrible...should be at least 2 seconds faster.
I believe they are talking about a Mustang GT!! Not the new GT!!!
The GT in question was a Ford GT - not the Mustang version..............

Good ol' Ford quality. A 200,000 dollar supercar with an inferior cooling system. I guess us Cobra guys can't feel that bad about our inadequate cooling system as opposed to the People forking out the money for a GT with a poorly engineered cooling system.
That's what happens when you rush produce cars like the 03/04 Cobra and Ford GT. What a bunch of DA's.

Getting into the 12’s WITH STREET TIRES is an accomplishment, no matter how much power you have, so 13.6 with some rich guy babying it isn’t out of the question. It would be interesting to know the trap speed, though. Should have still broke 120+?
I got to ride in the SVT Team GT at Buttonwillow Raceway for 3 laps driven by a Team SVT driver and that car pulls as strong at 2,000 rpm as at 4,000 rpm.
It was absolutely amazing in terms of torque and handling. The driver had the tires squealing through every turn.
They told me they do switch to a smaller pulley, from time-to-time, but didn’t say why.
ill defend the GT driver on this one i was at the track and it sucked BAD my friend with a TT cobra motor mustang that puts 751 to the wheels @ 20psi spun THE ENTIRE TRACK at only 8psi there was barely any car running in the 12's and i also heard the GT only blew a hose but iam not really sure it all happend as soon as i arrived
when are you going to the track next andrew?do you know of any dates they have races comming up?
Ive seen a Dodge Ram blow a radiator at a street light. He was revving at me, and I heard a loud pop and the coolant started going all over the place. I have it on tape too.

Not sure man, I am going to do a tb & plen and BFG's before i go back...NoProblem raceway has had some bad conditions lately as far as the track goes...I am going to hold off for a lil bit and wait until i can dyno my car as well...
I feel awful for the owner of the Camaro. watching the video and seeing the damage I felt sick, I don't think I could have watched the accident itself.
I h8 gm as much as the next guy, but I don't wish anyone bad luck at the track. That just plain sucks.
